Hi §issie,

Typical supermarket prices for steak in UK here: Sainsbury's steak

Those are priced in £ per kilogram, so some conversions for you:

Top grade 21 Day Slow Matured Rib Eye Steak:   £23.69/Kg  = $15 per pound approx.

Rib Eye Steak, Organic:  £16.99/kg =  $11 per pound approx.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Dean,

There's some ordinary Rump Steak listed there at £9.19/Kg  =  $6 per pound.

But I don't know how the quality would compare with what you are used to.

Martin.

Certainly cuts down on importing.

About the only thing we import from the UK is Holset turbochargers. And parts for those are hard to get at any price. They don't taste very good either.

Hi MT,

My housewifely skills are a bit lacking to answer that. :)

I know a pound of pork sausages cost about £2 = $3.

I don't eat much meat myself, as I much prefer fish. When I do have meat it is usually pork, or bacon or ham, etc. I keep well clear of chicken and poultry as it often makes me ill -- I seem to be allergic to something they put in chicken meat.

But eggs are great -- in fact writing this has made me hungry, so I'll go and boil an egg for lunch right now... :)

regards,

Martin.

Meat general is not cheap here. Come to that, most things aren't cheap.

Jim about 4½ ounces of Asparagus $2.16 on OFFER in our supermarket.

With petrol (gas) prices as high as they are it is not surprising.

Filled up today and 7.25 USA Gallons cost me $47.11
