I manually register members. Sometimes, but not always, when I register the member, the next time I use the LOG IN window and double click on the USER NAME: field, instead of just my name, I see names of the people I have recently registered along with my name. This had stopped a while back when I cleared all of my Internet Explorer memory, but it recently began again. It is not a real problem until the list gets so long that I have to go looking for my name with the scroll bar. Any ideas? Tom Butler http://atransc.org/ideaexchange/login.php

You can clear them individually from the Name field by highlighting them and hitting Delete. To clear all of them so they (and future ones) won't come back at all, you can set IE not to save form names and passwords.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried to delete them. I have tried everything short of a hammer with no luck. Yes, I can set EI to not safe form material, but then I lose the feature for the rest of the Internet. that is a high price to pay. Other ideas? Tom

Tom Butler wrote: Other ideas? Hi Tom, Use a different browser for registering members. There are several to choose from, and you don't have to use them for anything else if you don't want to. the next time I use the LOG IN window and double click on the USER NAME: field, Before double clicking, type the first one or two letters of your user name. Your browser will then only display any matching recent ones, which will be only a few. You can then easily select the right one. regards, Martin.

Yes, I can do both. The point is that the problem seems to come and go, and I am always a little uncomfortable when one of my processes which I depend on has idiosyncrasies that need to be worked around. Of course, my Windows computer is full of such oddities. I try to fix one now and then just to keep the gremlins at bay.

Have you tried purging all your internet cookies and saved form details? I use FF and it has the option to delete all saved form entries which will delete all login details that it has saved

That does delete the list, but it also deletes all of my other remembered. To give you an example, I manually registered Jim as UltraBB. When I saved it, the board automatically logged on as UltraBB. I logged off, but now when I double click on the name field, I see that UltraBB is one of the login names offered to me. After a while, the list has a scroll bar, it get so long. I would consider this a characteristic of the board that I have to live with, but as I said, there have been times that newly registered people do not show up in that field. Something changes.

It isn't the board, I believe it's called a "MRU list" and is often in the registry making it difficult to delete. It's an action that happens on forms in general and not necessarily the board. The board has a form, the browser remembers entries and puts them in a list. What's funny is even on different sites and forms, if the form name in the code is the same you might get the same list pop up! This happens all the time with common form names like "name" and "address" and "email".

Yes, I get the same list here. I just registered a new member and the name did not go on the list. I will keep track for a while and see if I can find a pattern. Tom

I would suggest what was done above. Get a browser that you'll never use for anything else. If you use IE get FF or Chrome and use it just for registering members. Each browser is different for clearing the drop down options but if you google "BROWSER_NAME clear drop down on forms" you should be able to find a guide and step by step instructions. There's also a way to turn it off for everything but if you don't want that the only way I think you can get around it is by using a separate browser for registering members.
