I am sure this has been asked before, but as Jim and Di know, im a Biff when it comes to these things and have well and truly learnt my lesson when tinkering and not knowing what im doing :q

So say i wanted to set up a Complaints sub domain on the forum, which was just like the old support forum on wowbb, how would one go about doing that?

We might have to define a little here,

Do you mean sub forum like "ultra how to's" is to "software assistance" on this board, or a sub domain like complaints.ultrabb.net that you can get to as an entire separate entity with a browser?

LOL sorry I was busy rebuilding my entire service computer. Was up till 2am+ last night.

The gallery and chat boards are two completely separate boards with their own set of files and databases. You couldn't do it like that without separate licenses, sorry.

You can link to one category, but you can come out of it and see an entire board. Like this:
http://www.ultrabb.net/forum/category5/

The support (private support) forum on the wow site was a separate board also with a separate database. It's still going as a matter of fact... a lot of unanswered questions but it is still going.

For the databases? The operative there is "give". I will increase your databases on your account to whatever you need for free. I do it all the time.

Obviously I know what a database is but I cannot see how it can be used with the forum. Could someone give me a couple of examples and how you would link from the forum to the database, or indeed if you could.

Hi Robert, there are only so many databases I give with each account, I believe you have 3 to use. You would need a database (in our case a MySQL database) in order to store info for programs like blogs, chat programs and bulletin boards. There are other things like mail programs or e-mail lists that use them also.

She was contemplating starting a couple more boards and would have needed more databases to be able to do so. When she decides it is time, I will increase the database quota as I would for you Bob.

Hi Bob,

Standard hosting gives you 3 databases, although I think Jim would allow more if you asked nicely. :)

I'm using all 3 of mine -- two Ultra boards and one IP board:

  http://85a.co.uk/forum/

  http://85a.co.uk/rmweb_indexers_forum/

  http://85a.co.uk/ipb/

What do you want to use your extra databases for?

regards,

Martin.

I'm going to need a backup of the IP database Martin if you don't mind for the converter :)

Let me know if it's OK and I'll snag it.
