I am totally lost - and as usual - can not remember my C-Panel password - much less my FTP one.....:twich:

Had some reports of wonky stuff - so Jim? When you can - as things seem okay at the moment - can you check Stoney Acres out and are you able to change my C-Panel password? No hurry or alarm - just when you can. After the holiday and all. Low priority and all that.

Many thanks!
Stoney

Hi, Jim,

I'm a little late to the party but changed the password to my cpanel and have not (will not) save the new password in my ftp program, Transmit. Did you find my site, Applianceguru.com, to be infected?

As always, muy domos for your diligence!

Scott

Hi Scott,

I checked your site initially and just re checked, you don't seem to be affected. Please disable JS in your adobe reader per one of the posts in this swelling thread and don't save passwords in your FTP (or log on to your FTP if you suspect your computer is infected).

LOL we have been crawled, this topic is on page 2 of a google search for the virus: JS:Illredir-A

Looks like a lot of people are hit. Avast added it to their defs on 12-21 (or 21-12 for you across the pond) and a variant "b" was added a few days later.

Just experienced the "B" variant, working on it at another host. The "B" doesn't infect main.php but hits every index and js file like it's big brother "A"

This thing is still running wild everywhere.

I finally gave up. The root Kit virus I had was so deep I could not remove it myself. I contacted Dell and got Tier 3 support. they logged into my computer (great guy from Singapore) and it took over an hour of them running multiple programs they installed and tons and tons of dos code, but they finally removed the virus without having to reformat my entire computer. It cost me $129, but was completely worth it in my opinion.

The tech told me that these viruses are completely overrunning the internet and people's computers. There is no way to control them, or know exactly what they are doing, but they are bad.
