I just discovered that instead of hitting 'Topic' to sort a forum alphabetially, I can save a link already sorted.  But how do I change the link permanently on the forum itself to automatically sort by name?

Just one group of three forums in a category. I've got the URL posted in a link with the forum address ending with '&sort_by=name', just hoping there's a way of putting that on the forum address for the main link. Last edited on Fri Apr 2nd, 2010 10:03 pm by snooze |

You might not see Mat for another 6-8 months, he is like that The link is dynamically generated however we could hard code an alternate link at the top to sort in such a matter. Like an alternate button, sort by bla bla. Does this interest you?

Uh, I wasn't asking Mat, I was asking anybody who knows. I super appreciate answers from anybody, part of the whole appeal of forums is having pooled knowledge, the more the merrier, but of course an answer from the owner is appreciated. I guess I'll have to balance the cost with the options. Right now we've got a link that sorts by name in the side menu, have to give a button some thought. Thanks.

Jim with the right hook haymaker! I do apologize about my spotty attendance. We have a ton of things going on and try to stop by and help when I can. Are you wanting this for all members or just you? Jim possibly allowing users to set their own preference of how posts are ordered in future could be a good feature.

I think a lot of Admins would like the option of how individual forums are ordered, yup. I keep telling members (by posting pinned instructions, etc) to click on 'topic', they don't get it. And I'm not sure clicking on a button would be all that much better. I have three or four forums where I'd like it sorted alphabetically whenever anybody clicks on those forum's URLs. Somebody had a 'hide forum' option at one point, I'd even explore hiding my 'Library' category/forums and only allow them to be accessed from the side menu or elsewhere, although that's not the preferred way.
