Hello all. I hope you are having a great day. I have recently just started using my Ultrabb software and I love it. Here is what I am trying to do....

My domain name is http://www.talkcambridge.com . I want it to go to http://www.talkcambridge.com/view_forum.php?id=1 .

However even though I have told GoDaddy to change the page it goes to it still is not working. Even though they say it is. Anyway I want it to goes to http://www.talkcambridge.com/ .

Now I have changed the setting within the software so that when my members hit the "Home" button it goes to the page I want it to. However I can't figure out how to make it to go to the page above. Is there a setting I am missing to make this happen?

Also did I screw it up by creating a category or something I should not have? What do I have to do to make this correction. My board is not out there for the general public just yet so if I have to start over I can without much worry about losing the post there now. I really need it to go to http://www.talkcambridge.com/view_forum.php?id=1 when someone puts in my URL.

I sure hope someone can help me with this.

The page is not working for me either of them...

Might be time to switch to Data 1 hosting, before you get busy...

Ummm. That is weird. All the links worked for me. I will have a look at Data 1 hosting if I can find the link.

Thanks

Uh oh. I have no idea what is going on. I am not working on the site doing anything that should be causing the issues you all have described and shown. I just checked it and the site is working for me.

We got it figured out, just need to wait for DNS. That IP isn't even our servers.

Hi,

It's tracing to:

 pwfwd-v01.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net [64.202.189.170]

which is not Data 1 hosting.

Where did you upload the board files?

TO CLARIFY-

I transferred the board to Data 1. He just has to point to the nameservers with his registrar since he already had the name. We all live happily ever after.

This does prove you can get major help on this board from the members :)

I am confused a bit. My site is now working as I wanted it to.

Jim your post says I need to point the nameservers. Is that something I still need to do?

I am a very happy camper! The support here is excellent! Thank each of you so much.

DNS works on a "per ISP" basis. It is totally possible that you could be seeing the board in the new web space and we cannot. I'll report the minute it resolves for me but currently I'm still getting the old server.

Hi hf1,

The Godaddy Whois is currently showing the wrong nameservers, and showing as updated today:

   Domain Name: TALKCAMBRIDGE.COM
   Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
   Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
   Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com

   Name Server: NS45.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
   Name Server: NS46.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

   Status: clientDeleteProhibited
   Status: clientRenewProhibited
   Status: clientTransferProhibited
   Status: clientUpdateProhibited

   Updated Date: 14-feb-2010

   Creation Date: 06-feb-2010
   Expiration Date: 06-feb-2011

I don't know how .com domains work, but for .uk domains changes to namerservers made via a tagged registrar's web site show immediately in the Nominet Whois database, even if there is a delay in propagating to the ISP's DNS.

Are you sure you have changed the nameserver settings on the Godaddy web site to those given you by Jim?

regards,

Martin.
