Hi :)

My name's Enrico Rizzato. I'm working as a PR for inizioPartita (an italian magazine about videogames). Our web-site is hosted on a .asp server, so we usually utilized a free-license .asp bulletin software for our forum. Lately we are experiencing problems due to several hacker attacks, so we're thinking to change our software. In particular we would like to use a php forum moving our software (and forum) on a .php server.

So I'm trying to figure out which software could be useful for us.

Our Boss will buy it later :)

I find your bulletin software very interesting but I have a few questions about it.

1) which are its complete security features? (IP tracking, safe access, ecc...) Is it possible to have, inside a forum, hidden sub-forums with limited access?

2) Is it the language customizable? And in which way? (as u could probably guess, we need it in italian)

3) which  kinda attachment files does your software support?

4) What are the complete terms of your full license? If we buy it, can we use it only on a particular server, or on multiple server, and only for a website or on multiple websites? Is it a lifetime license?

5) Is it possible to have a "physical" copy of the software from you (on CDs or DVDs)? If so, how much does it cost to receive it here in Italy?

Tnx in advance for your kind replies,

Enrico (aka Megrez)

Hi Enrico,

Thank you for your interest in WowUltra! To address your questions-

1. You can at any time view a users IP address and restrict access by IP or by e-mail address. The real security of WowUltra comes in the strict internal sanitize routines that have thus far made the software almost bullet proof to sql injections.

Sub forums follow group permissions and can be made invisible to all but a particular group.

2. Yes we have an extensive language library including your native language :)

3. The attachment types can be added and subtracted as needed. The initial install supports bmp gif jpg jpeg png txt pdf zip, but you can add as you need.

4. It is a lifetime license and you can only use one live install per license. You can however keep as many backup copies as you need, the files will be made available for download upon purchase.

5. Like I said above, the entire file package is made available for download upon purchase. You can keep a copy on your computer or log in to private support on line to download it again along with updates.

The best way to experience it your self would be to start a 30 day free trial board here:
http://wowultra.com/trial.php

It is a full functioning board except for mass e-mail, we can even transfer any work you have done (themes, database) to your real site upon purchase.

Thank you for stopping by and considering WowUltra!

Jim

Tnx for replying Jim ;)

About the language library and italian language, is that a native feature of your software (included), or is it something like a patch that you must apply to your software? If it is included, I could say that we'll probably buy your software in the next few days :)

Hi Enrico,

The language pack is included in the software. Once you get your board loaded, you can choose whichever language you prefer :)

btw...i like the name Enrico. Does it mean the same in Italian as it does in Spanish (Henry)? I have a brother named Enrique :)

Hi Di

The root of the name derives from the original germanic Heinrich or Einrich (that should mean literally "One who is rich, who has many properties"); the name itself has got many variants in several languages. And yep... Enrico is the italian form for Heinrich, like Enrique is the spanish one and Henry the anglo-saxon one.

To Bouttime:

"Tu vuò fà l'americano" it's a song written and played by Renato Carosone in 1957. The song became famous because its lyrics are quite ironic; and I must admit that I appreciate it too for that reason. But it's not the kind of music I like, nor it is properly an "italian" song (it's written in "napoletano" which is the dialect/slang that is spoken in Campania, the region of Italy that has Napoli, also known as Naples abroad, as its county-town: italian language is a bit different... I'm not from Napoli, nor from Campania: I live in the north-east of Italy, in the region called Veneto, which has Venezia, also known as Venice abroad, as its county-town).

To all of you:

The boss bought your sofwtare: we'll upload it on our server in the next few days :)

Btw, sorry for my little english :)

Enrico

How is possible to do that?

I'm trying to manipulate forum settings, but I don't find that option :)

you have to go to the users tab and set the permissions for each group.

click the group that you dont want to have access to a certain forum. then click permissions. once there, search for the forum that you dont want the group to see, then click add.

the forum will be added then all you need to do is uncheck the boxes under the forum name that prevent the group from viewing and posting, etc.

then click save

yes, just find 2 images you want to use and make sure you name them forum.gif for no new posts and forum_new.gif for new posts. upload into the folder of the theme you want to switch them in

also, make sure theyre the same size as the current images, which i believe is 24 x 24 pixels

if you  have FTP access to your site, you would upload them via FTP

or thru the theme editor in the admin panel

admin panel ---> themes then scroll down where you see the word "edit" and a drop down menu next to it. you want to edit files

Enrico, some of us discovered a great free FTP program called WinSCP. You can just drag and drop files from your desktop into your site and make it all look like the Windows interface. I had been using Filezilla, but WinSCP is better;
