I have been playing about with a Trial board and would like to ask a couple of questions before I buy: *does the purchase come with free upgrades for lifetime? *can I make the quick reply box show for Guests? *when is version 1.19 being released?

AND we lost a computer today, down for most of the day. Just now recovered 100% So in summary for the first answer, there has been some discussion if we can continue developing software and offering free upgrades for life. The reason for sluggish update schedules is that we cannot concentrate on the software as a full time job if it doesn't offer any income because of having to keep full time jobs otherwise. So I can promise this. UltraBB 1.17 is a proven, secure, stable product, this is an indisputable fact supported by 100's of users. We might not be able to offer the same stability with adding a bunch of features built on the same base code, in part due to the changing face of PHP. IF UltraBB 1.19 is finalized and released it will be a free upgrade. IF another incredible product is developed that is not named UltraBB and not based on the same code there will be a charge for the new product. UltraBB will still be supported but as changes come along in higher levels of PHP and MySQL it might simply not work on some servers. This is because of the dated base code (framework) that UltraBB was built on.... namely WowBB 1.7. It was written many years ago and though it was ahead of it's time at the time... time goes on and there is nothing we can do to change this. I have never tried quick reply for guests but it should work fine. I do not personally recommend allowing guests to post but that is your decision and if you want I will help with it. Sorry if this upsets some, pulling punches and being politically correct are not two of my strong points. Perhaps I am just too human to be "professional" but that's how I am and that's how I choose to run my companies. It's like an old car that runs good but you just get sick of repairing it and carburetors and points are becoming rare. I think it's time to go fuel injection and a couple small turbochargers. And compatibility with all modern hosting. Jim

we're interested in using ultrabb, but know very little about setting up/customizing forums and we want the colors to match our website... I saw the 4 templates listed on the main page - are these the only options other than paying for a custom theme?

There are more options for themes, available to lease or buyout. Trial users cannot use custom themes. Gallery is only available to licensed users just because the gallery only works with Ultra and is not available as a stand alone. Custom theme is always the best way for a 100% match, but with some graphic background and a little bit of tech savvy you can come up with some interesting concepts. There are members that have designed their own themes with every bit as much quality as our custom themes.
