Well I got quite sick, then there was an illness (cancer) in my family.  And I wasn't around very much.   They took care of the hackers pretty quickly, 4-5x day.

And I really didn't have any problems until the other day when whatever broke, broke.

So I went looking for the support forum and it was gone.   Started googling..........here I am.

I have a very small board, about 20 members.   So it doesn't require lots attention.

And it only took 6 hours for them to get my board back up yesterday!

I am not being rude here, or a bigot, but I went to whois yesterday to see if they had the main number listed for wowbb and the number is in Istanbul.   What the heck? I thought everyone there was in Chicago?  That was when I got really frantic and did serious googling.

I am very happy to see all of you again, and in love with the simplicity of this software.

And very grateful to Jim and Di for getting me going once again.

*money sent*

Anyhow KitKat, Aycan was in Columbus Ohio where Di and myself live then moved back to Turkey, his native country. Marty is the one in Chicago, Mat is in Florida.

WowBB was a great company and Aycan is one of the most brilliant software developers I ever knew. I would have never guessed it would end up like it has.

I also am a Wowbb survior.  In fact if it hadn't been for finding Jim's email, I would not be a survivor at all.  Thanks Jim.

My name is Larry Hancock.  I am the webmaster for the Antique Fan Collectors Association.  We have used wowbb since I before I became webmaster.  We are considering making the switch to something else since there is no support for wow anymore.  Which makes me ask, "If I am paying them an annual fee for hosting, where is my server located?  Who is tending it?  Why won't they email me?"

Hi Larry,

Glad you made it here. Your server would be in Columbus Ohio USA if you sign on here, just a few miles from our house. I visit them sometimes twice a month :)

We plan on being here a while and recently upgraded the entire hosting portion of our business with updates to our servers and support equipment.

Jim

Hi Larry,

Most WowBB sites are hosted on Liquid Web, who have 3 data centres in Lansing, Michigan, USA. See:

http://www.liquidweb.com/datacenter/

Welcome to Ultra. You will find quite a few of us are refugees from WowBB. :)

regards,

Martin.

Who handled the contract for this hosting or who handles it now?  I paid 131 dollars to someone at wowbb in July.  Who gets paid to ignore my emails?  I need to get a backup of my database... And I keep getting errors? Zero Size Reply or something.

Hi Larry,

The wowbb.com and wowpublish.com domains are registered to

    Aycan Gulez
    Coskun Sk. Sihhat Apt. 7/2
    Cihangir Beyoglu
    Istanbul
    Turkey
    Tel. +90.5433238140

The total lack of support was the reason we all abandoned ship.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Larry,

The published email address is aycan@wowbb.com

Here are some links from Google:

http://www.aycangulez.com

http://twitter.com/aycangulez

http://www.facebook.com/people/Aycan-Gulez/708138875

No email addresses, but an obvious one to try would be aycan@aycangulez.com

regards,

Martin.

Thanks Martin.  Now does anyone know someone that works at Liquid web.  I need a favor...  They won't talk to me because I am not Mr Gulez...  I did get a guy to tell me that my forum is hosted there for certain.

1.  I would like to get the backup of the themes subfolder from this past Thursday or earlier.

2. I would like to get the username and password for the cpanel.

Do you think you can pull that off?

Thanks for trying Jim.

The themes folder might be gone forever, I don't know of their backup routines so I have no idea if it exists. We backup everyones info daily, weekly and monthly.

I'll work on the cpanel thing though.

Welcome Larry, from another survivor of the good ship WOW. Your only hope is Jim, if anyone can get your site/forum out of limbo so you can get it hosted elsehere, it will be Jim. None of us could get any help or even replies from Aycan since about 2008 and I can't see that changing now.

The hosting here is first class and the support is the best I have ever had.

Hello - we almost all came here from the Death Star that was wowbb.

I am 100% sure you will be MORE THEN HAPPY with the hosting services Data1 offers (Jim's hosting company) and then making the full switch hopefully to Ultra for the forum software. It is MILES AND MILES better and far far improved over the older wowbb versions.

good luck and welcome again.

If you plan on keeping your board for over a year and you have available funding for such items, buying is more cost efficient.
