We seem to be having trouble backing up our board. When I try through IE, it ACTS like it's backing up, but then saves 0 kilobytes. My partner used Firefox, and managed to get it to save 400, but our last backup saved 4,000 so I'm not sure that's right, either. We have been doing it through the admin panel directly on the board. As I've said, seemed to work fine back in Feb and then March. Now we are having probs.

Even when I could get several MB, it was impossible to use it as a Restore. The answer is to backup via phpMyAdmin in cPanel. However, one great advantage of hosting your board on Data 1 is that Jim does your backups for you, and guarantees daily and weekly backups. That's the main reason I switched my hosting from UK to Data 1. regards, Martin.

Thanks Martin! I didn't realize that we were doing it in a fashion that wouldn't actually be able to back up the board. Scary!! Ok, I'll make sure I go through the 'back way' LOL. Ok, after looking through the phpadmin... umm.. I don't mean to be an idiot here, but I don't see anything specifically designated as "backup". Can you give me some specific directions there? Also, you mentioned that Data1 automatically backs up the system. WONDERFUL. So in an emergency, how would I use/impliment/access that, or does it mean my board will never really crash completely? Sorry for all the questions.. this is our first board, so we are learning as we go. Thanks! Meghan Last edited on Fri Apr 10th, 2009 05:39 pm by Gaffaw |

Hi Meghan, Data 1 backs up all the info on a daily, monthly and weekly basis. You would have to request the backup from us but we are on daily, several times a day. Any time before midnight EST I can get the entire backup from the night before, or the backup from Tuesday nights (the "weekly" backup day) OR from the monthly which happens on the 7th of every month. I guess I should have posted the exact times before. We have had to use these backups about 4 times now for various customers. It is a backup of both files and database, the entire server.

If your doing it the way the guy said in PhpMyAdmin click "Export". [Cpanel user = Another way you can backup your board is going to "Backups" feature provided by "CPanel". Thsi will allow you to backup your database very fast and easy.] If your not a CPanel user use the other way...
