Does anyone know how I can get the same permissions as the 'Creator Owner' of my machine in Windows 7, or any other version of Windows if it comes to that. Robert - There is no 'Creator Owner' group in Windows 7, I suppose you could create one, give it Administrator privileges and add your user to it. What are you trying to install, if it was a written for a previous version of windows set it to run as that version.

It's an old story for me Dave. Apple's iTunes for my iPod is what I am trying to install but just as it gets to the end of the installation it breaks off and tells me I do not have permission to alter one of the registry keys, which the program needs to do. So the installation stops and rolls back. I had this same problem when I had Vista and it took months to get sorted out. I have tried taking ownership, opening as Administrator, running it from an elevated command line and still it's alwayd the same error that comes up. With regard to the Owner Creator when I go into regedit the Owner Creator is the only one with the 'special permissions'. The Admin has @what they call 'Full Control' but it doesn't include the Special Permissions like the Owner Creator does.

Been there, done that. Sorry Dave but I have already been through all that and taking ownership doesn't cut it I'm afraid. I have been on to Microsoft and they say it is an Apple problem and Apple say it is a Microsoft problem. Typical. It's not as if I am the only one with permissions problems as there are thousands of queries on the internet.

Hey Robert, my son installed Itunes on his pc with Windows 7 on it. He could not get it to install either so he called Itunes and they told him to install it with Internet Explorer, not Firefox, because Firefox is not compatible with their Win 32 file. He installed it using Internet Explorer and all is working fine now.

I'm not with you here Devans. Do you mean downloaded it using IE? The downloaded program sits on my desktop and when I run it I don't see what the browser has to do with anything as it isn't used in the installation process, as far as I know.

I guess I didnt go into asking him about that Robert. I have never used the program, but I knew that he does. I will ask him when he gets home this evening, about that.

Robert, I know he was having similar problems to yours. I messed with it for a couple days and gave up. Being 15, it drove him nuts not being able to use Itunes, so he called them himself and got it working through their phone support. I'll keep ya posted...
