SSD's Still have their quirks, Its just not a matter of price entirely. I've noticed that WD has SSD's out there now.
WD makes some good hard drives, But they aren't consistent in their particular models from size to size. It takes quite a bit of research and reading of reviews to decipher the good from the bad. As I said before the WD6401AALS has the best reputation out there, Drop down to the 500 or jump up to the 750 and they aren't as reliable. My machine runs 24/7 Under varying conditions and the WD6401AALS has been trouble free for me. I have 4 of them.
The WD1001FALS has a pretty good reputation.
I only buy the WD Black series, I steer clear of the Green, Blue and The RE3 models.
However it gets more complicated, As Soon as you find something good and reliable, The manufacturers will change model numbers to further confuse you.
