I just converted from WowBB to UltraBB and am so glad that I did. Here's what I found:
Correspondence with Jim was clear, happened multiple times, and the only complaint I have is that he seems to have the work ethic of an ox (that's a good thing!) Take a break sometime Jim! 
He was even kind enough to help me with my header. He didn't say "you must do it this way" or "If I do it, you get what you get", he gave me 3 logical choices and allowed me to choose what I desired. The mark of a true professional, having the breadth of mind to explain different angles of approaching a problem. I suppose that's a coders mind.....
.....the conversion was painless for me (heck, I didn't do anything but buy software that obviously IS supported - ha!)
.....now instead of visiting my forum 3 times a day to purge it of spammers I can actually spend my time creating rather than destroying.....hey, maybe I'll even have time to read the posts!!
All in all, I have been very impressed with this software and the people that support it. A company that sells something is nothing without support, and they have certainly demonstrated the flip side of the coin here - proper use of the force.
