Hmm, I obviously haven't done that right. I browsed my computer for a picture and it seemed to upload ok but it doesn't show in my post. Any ideas?

Well I got that to work but it just came up as a link while I want to see the picture in my post. Is that possible?

Hi Bob,

Admin > Topics > Avatars and Attachments > Inline Attachments > On

p.s. if this is related to Fotopic being down, it's due to a technical fault at Kingston Communications.

Martin.

Thanks Martin. That works fine. It was related to fotopic. I was in a flat panic for a moment as hundreds of pictures vanished off the forum. There would have been even more if it had been photobucket as all my pictures are hosted there. There's something to be said for having them as attachments, at least I would know they were all safe.

Hi Bob,

I'm a bit puzzled why you host your own pictures on slow and clunky Photobucket when you've got your own paid-for web space on a fast server at Data 1, with Jim looking after it?

Having topic pictures as attachments will be great -- WHEN Jim has shifted them out of the database into a folder in the same way as the avatars. Until then it's a bit risky because of the way they massively bloat the database as blob fields, making backups difficult.

I have a lot of image attachments posted on my board, and I'm routinely moving them out into a separate folder and linking them back. But doing it manually is slow and tedious. Fixing this is the best single thing Jim could do to improve Ultra, and I know it's on his to-do list.

regards,

Martin.

So how do I go about getting them onto Data1 and then how do I keep an eye on how my web space is going down?

cPanel?

My Data1 space is currently showing in the left hand column on cPanel:

Disk Space Usage        3.32 Megabytes
MySQL Disk Space           0 Megabytes
Disk space available  996.68 Megabytes

Martin.

I seem to be using a lot more space than you Martin so something must be filling it up. The forum I guess. :)

Disk Space Usage 56.65 Megabytes
MySQL Disk Space 149.59 Megabytes
Disk space available 943.35 Megabytes
