As you can figure, maintaining the software and the hosting is quite a task. It now consumes about every square inch of my spare time.
If you noticed the last release (1.17) updates were slow to come, there are still people not upgraded.
This in most part was due to the fact that there were so many people with custom themes that had to be rewritten for the new version. In the beginning we said that we would upgrade themes with boards. As it turns out so much of the template has to be rewritten with each consecutive release that it makes re doing a theme about 75% as hard as writing a new one. We didn't realize this till a month after 1.17 was released and it was taking FOREVER to update people. Plus as some of you know Di and myself pretty much do this on our own and have 2 children, one of them is 2 years old and requires every spare bit of attention we can't give to the software .
I don't mean to make customers angry but if this is what happens I really can't do much about it.
As of the release of 1.19, since it will be written for more modern web and browser compliance we simply can not upgrade the custom themes with the boards. I know this is a direct reversal of a statement made years ago but we simply can't do it and stay in the software business. The alternative would be to drop Ultra completely and stick to webhosting which is going quite well.
Upgrading a theme will carry a similar price tag to new custom themes. This is because it will be an equal task other than finding image sets. We will update some of our standard popular themes as we have time but can't promise which ones.
We apologize for any inconveniences but this is the way it has to be if we want to continue.
Feel free to start a thread in a public forum for discussions on this.
